Canvas Orientation

What is this course all about?

This orientation is designed for students to learn how to navigate Canvas, our learning management system. After completing the modules you should have a basic understanding of how Canvas works. We encourage you to come back to if you ever need help in the future. We hope that those who spend time in this orientation now will encounter less frustration in the future.

Specifically, upon the completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • navigate within Canvas, and customize settings.
  • communicate effectively, using the Canvas communication tools.
  • submit assignments and take quizzes.

Click the Modules button at the upper left to get started.  It is best to work sequentially through the material at first.  But you are welcome to return to this orientation for guidance and review at any time.

Once you complete this orientation, you will be asked to complete a survey. Participation is optional, but we really value your feedback!

Note: We encourage you to click on the 3 links below and review the information. We hope these "helps" will be valuable resources on what to expect from online classes at Butler (Course Help), Canvas basics (Canvas Help), and various Butler Community College resources available (College Help). This information will be available to you in all your online classes so please make yourself familiar with the content.
